Trail Walks

Nature like you have never seen before! The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is best appreciated in the early hours of the morning, when wildlife is most abundant and active. Trail walks at destinations such as Fundo Casual will take you deep into the rainforest where your guide will point out amazing creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. A local native assistant may also accompany you in order to bring you closer to different animals such as frogs, snakes, and insects. These are light activities and we provide rubber boots and rain ponchos in case of inclement weather.

Kayaking

The Amazon waterways up, close and personal. Native 16" River Kayaks are available in all our vessels. These kayaks make for excellent opportunities to paddle smoothly and silently into small creeks, tributaries, and lagoons. They have been especially designed with durability and stability for fishing trips, meaning that in the calm waters of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve you are able to gently row downstream. Each kayak seats 2 persons.

Paddleboarding

A different and fun approach to wildlife. Paddleboarding, available on, is an interactive and exciting way to discover the Amazon. And because of the calm, often ripple-less waters of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, it is an activity suitable for all ages. The coolness of the river water over your feet while you brush past the banks, eyeing wildlife, is an experience you do not want to miss.

Exercise Room

Cardio with a view. Enjoy your stretching, aerobics and cardio surrounded by the lush natural landscapes of the Amazon in our gym spaces, all provided with panoramic windows to keep you in touch with the vibrant scenery and give solace to both your body and mind.

Relax & Beaty

We offer flexible appointment times to best fit around your jungle excursions and personal schedule. If you are in the mood for some indulgence to help you find your zen, our wellness experts can accommodate to your schedule and provide massages and scrubs inspired by the traditional wisdom of the rainforest.

For all short transport (such as from the vessel to land for hiking) and wildlife seeking excursions, you will travel via skiff boats. Our skiffs are stable to ride and ready to navigate into the most hidden corners of the Amazon. Each skiff come with their own expert naturalist guide, captain, and features all safety regulations. Excursions and itineraries are dependent on natural and weather conditions and are thus subject to change.
Fishing
Exotic catches with an environmental approach. Fishing was never more exciting as in the lagoons and creeks of the Upper Amazon jungle, where you can encounter the mighty peacock bass, the gigantic awe-inspiring Amazon catfish, and other exotic sporting species while enjoying the comfort, security, and style of a Delfin Amazon Cruises experience. As part of our commitment to the environment, we exercise a strict policy of catch and release.
Observing Pink  River Dolphins
Meet these extraordinary creatures in once-in-a-lifetime experience. The pink river dolphin is a rare species found in the freshwater rivers of the Amazon near Iquitos, Peru. They are social, friendly and extremely intelligent creatures, and one of the highlights of a visit to the Amazon Basin. They also love the company of humans. If you're lucky, a Pink River Dolphin may playfully swim alongside your kayak or skiff. A snapshot of the pink river dolphin will definitely be one for your Amazon adventure scrapbook.
Birdwatching
Discover one of the world's most impressive diversity of birds. The Amazon is second to none when it comes to biodiversity, boasting over 1,500 species of birds -that is 20% of the total number of species on the planet! The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is especially diverse having little human interference to disrupt the natural habitat. The expeditions set out early in the morning on the skiffs in order to see them at their best. Professional guides from the region and with a deep knowledge of wildlife will accompany you and answer your questions. Whether you bring your camera or just your memory, the experience will surely not disappoint.
Night Safari
A whole new world awaits you after dark. Exploring the jungle by day is only half the fun as the adventures continue past sundown. The sound of the jungle at night is intense, and unlike anything you have ever experienced. Looking up to the sky, the stars are so visible and dense, it is like peering through a window into outer space. The groups are led by our expert guides who will direct your attention to wildlife that often goes unseen. This is your chance to spot the black caimans, bats, frogs, and other nocturnal creatures. The night safaris are a very unique experience and one you will never forget.
Animal Rescue Center
A learning experience about manatees and other endangered species. As part of your cruise, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (ACOBIA), where you will have the chance to feed manatees and learn about these docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. In addition, there are other animals cared for by the center that have been rescued from capture and other threatening conditions. These include monkey species, river otters, and more. A band of dedicated volunteers work hard all year round to ensure their efforts are sustained. We welcome you to donate to this organization and education center as you wish.

Delfin Amazon Cruises
General

Right from the start, Delfin Amazon Cruises has had a continuous commitment to practicing and promoting responsible tourism.

When we started our operations, 11 years ago, we realized we could produce a significant positive impact on the riverine communities to which we have access. For this reason, we created a small program with the local women, to develop handicrafts that would allow them to benefit from our visits. About 5 women were committed to this effort at the beginning, but now there are at least 45 working women in each community.

We became the main buyers of their artworks, using them as part of the decoration on board all our cruises. That way, they are permanently displayed for all our guests, who can then buy them directly on board or during our visits to the communities.

It took time for the local women to believe that we would return regularly with our guests, but over the years we have managed to develop a solid and healthy relationship based on trust and communication. Now, they have their own malocas (communal houses) where they exhibit their artwork, they identify and differentiate themselves from other communities with names such as “The Butterflies of Yarapa”, and have representatives who are in charge of organizing their work. And their husbands help them by collecting the fibers, seeds and barks they use. So the entire community has come together for the common good.

The proceeds of the handicrafts we sell on board help us fund an annual program that provides school supplies for children and first aid kits to all the communities along our way.

We also work permanently with local guides, who are in charge of cleaning the hiking paths we use and give support to our on board guides, helping them to identify and find plants, insects and other fauna during our excursions in the rainforest. We hire them on a rotating basis, so every man in the community has the opportunity to be part of this effort.

Last but not least, the Amazonian fruits and fish we serve on board are often provided by riverine communities as well, creating a virtuous circle that benefits one and all.

We believe the best way to help our neighboring communities is by providing them with opportunities to work and integrating them in a productive way in our activities. In this way, we hope to further advance our already long and wholesome relationship with them.
