La Pinta
Overview

In one of the world's greatest marine environments-the Galapagos- you can be sure your surroundings are front and center. La Pinta was designed with this in mind. Elegant and sophisticated, she'd steal the show in an environment less impressive. Instead, she's the perfect complement to the great outdoors. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the lounge showcase the views. An outdoor Sky Bar and sun deck. And decor that nods to the nautical.

What started as a dream for captains, crew, and guests became reality when La Pinta made her renovated debut in 2007. Her Ecuadorian crew exudes friendliness, fueled by pride in their vessel, the Galapagos Islands, and a desire to share them both. Some good things are too good to keep secret. Geared up for adventure play and wildlife, the yacht also has a fun-to-explore natural history library.

In addition to an exercise room and outdoor Jacuzzi, onboard adventure equipment includes snorkeling equipment; wetsuits; sea kayaks; and a glass-bottom boat. The Sun Deck includes fitness equipment, and for a soak with a view, there is a hot tub on the aft of the deck.

Depending on the cabin, doubles or triples can be accommodated; four cabins can be interconnected for families or groups traveling together. Most beds can be separated as twins or joined as a queen. Common to all cabins: Floor-to-ceiling view windows, air conditioning, iPod/MP3/MP4 music docking stations, desk and chair, in-room safe deposit boxes; private bath with shower.

Family [F]UnCruise Discoveries

Bring the whole family and share a journey across generations - we welcome kids from age 8 to 98 (and beyond!) to experience magical wilderness, wildlife, history, and cultures together.

Wisely noted by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "It is a happy talent to know how to play." Our Family Discoveries program celebrates the curiosity and wonderment of kids-at-heart of every age. And while we don't offer adult-free play zones and there are no babysitting services, everyone learns while having fun - think summer camp for the entire family.

On our adventure cruises, a unique smorgasbord of activities presents opportunities for building family bonds and creating lifelong memories. Reconnect and discover.

Dining

Humpbacks lunge into a bubble net feeding frenzy the moment plates are served. An otter swims up to the dining room windows with her baby on her belly, getting everyone out of their seats (we've all done it). It's no easy feat to prepare and serve dishes that consistently garner praise. There are special needs to be met, varying availability of ingredients, and there's always potential for those unexpected dining guests.

Every meal is handcrafted by our executive chefs to ensure innovative, nutritious, and delectable dining experiences that highlight flavors of the region.

What to expect:

  • Early-riser breakfasts of fresh fruit and baked-on-board pastries
  • Full breakfasts with hot and cold options and specialty items
  • Lunches range from salads, sandwiches, and homemade soups to regionally-influenced dishes
  • Dinners offer a choice of entrees including fresh, local seafood and meats
  • Chef-selected wine pairings that complement your meal
  • Made-from-scratch desserts like tiramisu and lavender panna cotta
  • Varied hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour
  • Vegetarian dishes are available at all meals
  • Special dietary needs can be met with advance notice

Unless there's a special barbecue or lunch on shore, most dinners are served over several courses. Attention is always paid to your personal preferences. The dining experience is casual. And seating is open so you can join new friends and choose a different table at every meal.

Celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or other occasion? Let us know when you book your cabin. Our expert pastry chef will whip up a surprise treat to make it memorable.

Life On Board

Each vessel has a unique personality. But they all share a universal goal - to provide relaxation, comfort, and camaraderie. The ambience is welcoming and casual. The crew call you by name and quickly know your preferences, making you feel right at home. And by the end of the cruise, you and your fellow travelers will feel like one big family.

You'll be impressed with how enthusiastic and accommodating the crew is. There's good energy and excitement. The meals are plentiful and scrumptious. It's a classy, well-run operation. At least that's what past guests are saying. What they least-expected though, was the bonding. Sharing adventures with people who became friends for life, and meeting so many returning passengers.

Outer Decks & Inner Spaces

  • An inviting dining room
  • Main lounge or salon (with a variety of board games, books, and DVDs)
  • Observation decks for wildlife viewing and relaxing under the stars
  • Open bridge policy - visit with your captain and mates
  • And possibly, a galley tour (it's amazing what they do in this space)

Everyone has their preferences, be it solitude or a few laughs with others. And on board, it's easy to have both. There are quiet nooks and crannies where you can dive into a good book or sketch the passing landscapes. Visit the captain on the bridge and learn about navigation. Or perhaps you'd rather mingle in the lounge or hang out on the bow eyeing the next WOW! moment.

Wellness, Fitness & Relaxation

  • Relax in the on-deck hot tub*
  • Nutritious meals with local ingredients
  • Laps around the deck
  • Fitness equipment or on-deck yoga stretches
  • Active adventure gear for kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and hiking

*Available on some sailings.

Solo Travel

Discover an Adventure All Your Own

Find the companionship of newfound friends. The logistics are planned for you. And your solo traveler's journey is a relaxed and safe one. Guides and crew know you by name - and it's not long before you and your shipmates are on a first-name basis. Bonding happens naturally.

If you're on the fence, the pros far outweigh the cons. There's a reason guests often describe these cruises as "summer camp for adults" - sharing stories, laughter, and AHA! moments with your comrades and crew. And when you seek it, there's quiet solitude, too.

On our adventure and river cruises, a unique smorgasbord of activities presents opportunities for creating lifelong memories.

Making Solo Travel Better:

  • Friendly rates (you don't pay double!)
  • Safe, comfortable environment
  • Open seating in the dining room fosters social mingling
  • Buddy system during adventure activities - snorkeling, kayaking, hiking
  • Time for beach walks, stargazing, and strolling towns in small groups
  • Freedom to curl up with a book in the onboard library or lounge
Adventure Cruises

Unleash Your Excitement. Focused on experiencing life on the outside - rain or shine - our adventure cruises are offered in a variety of destinations, a mix of price points (some generously inclusive), and an exciting range of activities aboard boutique yachts and expedition vessels. Kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, snorkeling, skiff excursions, and cultural encounters top the agenda.

Each day's activities take advantage of the current conditions and opportunities, and are planned to suit a range of skill levels and preferences. You could be kayaking one morning and snorkeling the next; or another day may offer a leisurely afternoon shore walk or a rigorous hike. So take it easy, or stay on the go - your onboard expedition team will provide the insight needed for you to make a safe and enjoyable choice.

Our 22- to 86-guest vessels are ready for action and equipped with top-of-the-line kayaks, paddle boards, hiking poles, binoculars, and many even feature a custom-built kayak launch system. And depending on your destination and vessel, snorkeling gear and wet suits. We provide the adventure, equipment, opportunities, fun, expert crew, expedition guides, and the vessel. Define Your Un-ness

Here's ours... [uhn-nis] To break away from the masses. Challenge. Freely used to release, exemplify, or intensify a force or quality. To engage, connect, and explore unique places, oneself, and with others on a most uncommon adventure.

Small Ships...BIG Adventures

A crew member shows you to your cabin. After a short time getting situated, gain your bearings with a spin around the ship before heading to the lounge for a glass of bubbly and to meet your shipmates. Once on board, transplanting yourself and settling in is a snap.

And then you're off! Headed to where the big ships can't go-in more ways than one. Be sure to pack a go-with-the-flow attitude. There are set itineraries, but in-the-moment decisions with Mother Nature leading the way will happen! No two UnCruise departures are ever the same, and they're way more personable.

No matter how you travel -with a companion, family, solo, or in a group -connection, place, and adventure are at the heart of your exploration. Uncover hidden treasures, meet locals (the human, feathered, and wild-and-woolly ones), and learn while having fun.
